Glendale is a Prime LA Location

Glendale is located to the northeast of downtown Los Angeles and is accessible by many major freeways including the I-5, the Glendale Highway ( California State Route 2 ) and California State Route 134, thus offering easy commutes to most locations in the San Fernando Valley. Northwest Glendale is the closest town to the studios, including Dreamworks and Walt Disney Imagineering, so it is a great close-to-work location for people in the industry.

Surrounded by the Verdugo Hills, the town offers many quiet neighborhoods and ample natural beauty while still being close enough to civilization to offer great shopping, restaurants and night life within easy reach.

Glendale Neighborhood Style

Glendale has something for everyone, with modest and reasonably priced single-family homes in the flatlands to mansions in the surrounding hills. From a real estate perspective, the prices of homes in Glendale relative to surrounding neighborhoods and towns make them a great real estate investment. Above all, the neighborhoods are peaceful, generally walkable and great for families. Many of the Glendale neighborhoods are have wide, tree-lined streets.

There are numerous notable old school California neighborhoods that are famous for Spanish Colonial or Spanish revival style homes, including Verdugo Woodlands and historic Rossmoyne. The average age of single family homes in Glendale as a whole is 54 years, so there are ample choices of houses in Glendale neighborhoods with the kind of architectural character and detail that they just don’t add to new houses any more, including those built in the 1920s and 1930s.

Surroundings Make Glendale Fun

Glendale may have started out as a sleepy little country town on the outskirts of the big city but today its unique position and easy access make it the perfect place to offer the best of both. Downtown Glendale sports a Bellagio like water feature and high end retail and restaurants. The Verdugo Hills offer the opposite in an hiking escape to the mountains and forest.

In between, you might enjoy horseback riding on local equestrian trails or one of the fabulous farmers markets in the Montrose, Atwater Village or La Canada Flintridge neighborhoods.

What kind of neighborhood amenities are available in Glendale?

Where do we start? There are so many options for shopping, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, personal services and activities that there are too many to mention them all, but here are a few. Great shopping can be found at Glendale Galleria and The Americana at Brand. A few of my favorite restaurants include Porto’s Bakery and Cafe, Foxy’s Restaurant and Golden Road Brewing. If you would like to sample some of the diversity of Glendale, give Carousel Restaurant or The Original Kabob Factory a try.

What are things to do in Glendale?

You have your choice of outdoor activities in Glendale, including ample walking and hiking opportunities in over 30 parks and local trailheads. One of my favorite, at Brand Library, offers both cultural and outdoor fun because the trail starts at the library. Other great parks offering playgrounds, basketball, volleyball, tennis and horseshoes include Glendale Central Park, Fremont Park and Cerritos Park. And lets not forget the world famous view at Griffith Observatory at Griffith Park.
